Fresh off his win over Bryan Barberena Saturday night at UFC on FOX 22, Colby Covington started looking to the future.
And if he has his way, that future includes a date with Dong Hyun Kim.
Covington, a former standout wrestler at Iowa Central and Oregon State, improved to 11-1 overall and 6-1 with the UFC by scoring a decision over Barberena. He has won three straight since a 2015 loss to Warlley Alves, who was unbeaten at the time.
“My future is going to be bright, you can count on that,” Covington said (thanks to FOX Sports for the quotes). “I will hold that world title belt before my career is done – you’ve only see a glimpse of my true potential.
“Hopefully a big fight is next, that’s what I want. Dong Hyun Kim would be a great fight.”
Kim is currently scheduled to meet Tarec Saffiedine to close out the year at UFC 207. Kim is 21-3-1 and 6-1 over his last seven.
