Former Ultimate Fighter winner Kelvin Gastelum earned another win over a former UFC champion Saturday night, stunning and stopping Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 106.
After earning a win over Johny Hendricks at welterweight, Gastelum added a victory vs. Belfort to his resume as a middleweight. He is unbeaten in the division, where he was forced to compete at after trouble making weight.
In the co-main event, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua earned his third consecutive win when he finished Gian Villante in the third round. Rua now owns the longest win streak of his UFC career, which dates back nine years.
Edson Barboza, though, stole the show with a second round knockout of Beneil Dariush. Barboza, who already owns highlight-reel finishes, added to his collection when he connected on a flying knee that floored Dariush.
Ray Borg picked up the biggest win of his career, scoring a decision over Brazilian Jussier Formiga in a key flyweight contest.
Bethe Correia, a former UFC female bantamweight title challenger, and Marion Reneau battled to a majority draw, while Alex Oliveira submitted Tim Means in the second round.
On the prelims, Kevin Lee and Michel Prazeres each scored submission wins, while Sergio Moraes and Joe Soto picked up decisions over Rani Yahya.
Jeremy Kennedy topped Rony Jason in the UFC Fight Pass featured attraction, and Paulo Henrique Costa knocked out Garreth McLellan to open the night.
