Cro Cop accepts challenge of Overeem
Alistair Overeem has made no secret about his interest in fighting former UFC and PRIDE knockout artist Mirko Cro Cop, going so far as to call the Croatian out after a win over Tae Kyun Lee in his DREAM.4 bout. Cro Cop recently responded in a blog post stating among other things: I was asked by the members of media if I’m willing to fight Overeem since we challenged me twice already. I watched... BodogFIGHT, WEC, UFC: Equal or Rivals? (video)
RawVegas.TV was in the building last Friday for the TUFF ‘N’ NUFF show sponsored by BodogFIGHT and put together an interesting piece that polled Nick Thompson, Dean Lister, Troy Mandaloniz and Jens Pulver on their thoughts about where other promotions rate against the UFC. Pulver’s comments about how the UFC has become mainstream while MMA hasn’t are especially interesting. Read More →
February could be busiest month in MMA history
While I’ve done no scientific research, it’s become quite obvious that February of 2008 is shaping up to be the busiest month in the history of MMA with no less than six shows planned by major promotions. The month will kick off with UFC 81 on Saturday, February 2, in Las Vegas. A heavyweight match between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir has been announced with heavy speculation that Antonio... Exclusive: BodogFIGHT Women’s Champion Tara LaRosa clarifies contract status; speaks out against Gina Carano
Over the weekend I attended the U.S. Grappling Championships in Delaware to support my wife and her teammates from her school, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu United. She ended up competing in the Advanced Absolute Division despite only being a white belt. One of her competitors was none other than BodogFIGHT Women’s Champion Tara LaRosa. I chronicled the experience of my wife competing against LaRosa... [Read More...]

According to Gary Herman of 15 rounds.com, Trevor Prangley commented during the Strikeforce festivities at the Playboy Mansion this past weekend that talks are in motion for him to defend his BodogFIGHT middleweight title against Matt Lindland. The match has not been signed yet and there are no indications of when or where it might take place. BodogFIGHT, which sponsored this past Saturday’s... [Read More...]
Thoughts and prayers going out to Tara LaRosa
I just wanted to say our thoughts and prayers should go out to BodogFIGHT women’s champion Tara LaRosa, who made the following announcement through a bulletin sent via her MySpace account: I don’t know how to write this. I talked to Adrian, my boyfriend, on Monday August 20th. He was giving me grief about not doing enough cardio, we talked... [Read More...]

CBS Sportsline column: Fedor’s next destination should be the UFC
This was the week I was supposed to finish my column of the “Ten Biggest Overachievers in MMA” as a followup to my “Ten Biggest Underachievers in MMA.” However, I had an urge to speak out about the current status of Fedor Emelianenko and weigh-in with my two cents about where he should fight next and why. You can read my Op/Ed piece on Fedor by clicking here. Read More →

Calvin Ayre responds to Media Life article
If a recent article by Media Life is an accurate indication of ION’s feelings about BodogFIGHT, then it looks as though the feeling about not wanting to continue a contractual relationship past Februay could be mutual as Calvin Ayre has issued a statement in response to the article: “Since its inception in 2006, Bodog Fight has become one of the heavy-hitters in the world of mixed martial arts,... BodogFIGHT to go off the air?
I came across a link on Zach Arnold’s FightOpinion.com in regard to an article on the Media Life Magazine web site discussing the ION network. I won’t summarize the article too much, because who really cares about ION? However, there was this interesting tidbit in the piece: The network has also been airing martial arts show “Bodog Fight” in late night since last year, but the... [Read More...]
Paul Lazenby to be a guest on “Inside the Cage Radio”
Paul Lazenby is not only a former pro wrestler, a Muay Thai fighter, an MMA fighter, and a color commentator for Bodog Fight on ION television and The Fight Network, but he’s also the first-ever confirmed guest for “Inside the Cage Radio” with hosts Sam Caplan and Matt Cava. Okay, I’m sure the latter achievement ranks pretty low on Paul’s personal list of accomplishments... [Read More...]

Building a better Bodog
My review of Bodog Fight’s U.S. debut in Trenton, NJ this past Saturday received a lot of views so I thought I would continue on the Bodog theme and post some thoughts I have about how they can improve their product and increase their viewership. Less Calvin Ayre - Calvin, we get it! You’re richer than us, get more sex than us, and are cooler than us. Do you have to rub it in our faces?... [Read More...]
Bodog Fight show was long in duration, short on action
I was at last night’s Bodog Fight show in Trenton, NJ and the show was long on duration and short on action. My second biggest complaint about the show (I’ll get to the biggest later) was the pacing and the match making. I had to leave the show early because I just couldn’t take it anymore. And I feel bad because I’m from Philadelphia and I was looking forward to seeing Eddie... [Read More...]

Matt Lee cleared to fight Eddie Alvarez
Apparently Bodog Fight received a small scare in regard to the status of tomorrow’s main event between Matt Lee and Eddie Alvarez in Trenton, NJ. Lee has been cleared to fight by the state athletic commission after undergoing a second EKG test. Lee’s fight status was up in the air after his first EKG showed a low heartrate. A low heartrate is common in many highly-conditioned athletes but... [Read More...]

I also just conducted... [Read More...]
My thoughts on Kurt Angle
As I alluded to earlier there really isn’t much in the way of actual news taking place in MMA right now so I thought I would give a public response to a question that was e-mailed to me over the weekend. In response to my unedited interview with Gareb Shamus that’s now available on the site, I was asked about whether I thought Kurt Angle is serious about getting into MMA. I might be in...
