The Changing of the Guard
Some were happy, some were sad, and most were in shock. Chuck Liddell was knocked unconscious by one punch, thrown by a reality TV show winner. If you had said that one, two, or even three years ago, any MMA fan in the world would have disagreed or possibly ridiculed you incessantly. Now, on September 6th of 2008 it is a reality. Rashad Evans knocked out Liddell at UFC 88. And it is a reality that... [Read More...]

(Fake) AIM chats with the stars
I should state before I start that with the new AIM concept I am kind of stealing from a wonderful baseball site called The Dugout, which features fake MLB AIM conversations. It’s a great site if you ever want to check it out. That said and props given, I must chat with the stars…. MichaelHuckaby: Hey Karo, sorry about our last interview. KaroSyrup: I know how the Diaz people are, no... [Read More...]
5 Oz. Feature: Six Fighters in Need of a Promotion
As the boom of mixed martial arts promotions and shows continues, one fact has become more and more apparent: Zuffa and the UFC are the gold standard, both in show production and fighter talent. As a result it can be sometimes painful to watch fighters of superior talent fight in promotions lacking the roster depth to fully test their abilities. In the wake of the EliteXC show the newly crowned welterweight... [Read More...]

Root of All Evil: UFC vs Bloggers
Lewis Black’s Comedy Central show, Root of all Evil, this week featured a battle between “ultimate fighting” and bloggers. Two things which I’m personally disgusted by as an “ultimate fighting” blogger. Namely because it is not possible for me to win. Sure they said both “ultimate fighters” and bloggers use their hands and not their brains, sure they... [Read More...]

Did EliteXC ban Noons/Diaz melee footage?
In the fallout from CBS’ second-ever telecast of EliteXC during its “Saturday Night Fights” program this past weekend, there were pockets of criticism that more wasn’t done to build towards future matchups. A chief criticism was that there was very little done to advance the grudge feud between EliteXC lightweight champion K.J. Noons and Nick Diaz. Diaz came off like a superstar... [Read More...]
Random Rant: When Amateurs Attack
I just read a sign of the times in regard to MMA drawing new fans to the sport. In an article on BleacherReport.com, J. Michael Morris actually takes a shot at Anderson Silva for something that is just completely silly: What in the H-E-double hockeysticks was Anderson Silva doing at the EliteXC fight on Saturday night? Can’t he recognize a major fight? I know there is a little translation problem,... [Read More...]
