White will go under the knife in Los Angeles, so with the show taking place in Virginia he was unable to attend.

Meniere’s disease is a condition where fluid in the ear gets too high, causing issues with balance and hearing. It resembles a severe case of Vertigo.

“First fight I will miss in 11 years an it is killing me,” White wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday. “I have to have surgery in L.A. tomorrow or trust me I would be (at the card).”

White has been able to go from state-to-state and even country-to-country to make events, but obviously his health and well-being is more important than even this streak. However, it’s not to say the outspoken executive wasn’t feisty as a fan sitting at home watching things unfold on TV even going so far as to call out a few of his coworkers and demand they show fighters’ entrances in the future on all televised events.

One of those is unquestionably TUF 4: The Comeback where a group of UFC veterans were given a second shot at redemption inside the Octagon with each divisional winner earning a title-shot in the process. The season re-introduced the public to fighters like Chris Lytle, Jorge Rivera, Patrick Cote, and Matt Serra (who ultimately went on to defeat Georges St-Pierre to become champion in the opportunity he’d earned on TUF).

With ratings dipping down with the reality show’s transition to Fridays on FX it seems the UFC is weighing the possibility of doing another “comeback” season in hopes of sparking some more interest by using established athletes.

People keep asking me about the comeback. It was a great season, and the craziest part of that whole season is Matt Serra wins it and actually wins the title; it was crazy. The answer is yeah, we’re looking to do a lot of different stuff now with (TUF 15) and that would be a fun one,” said UFC President Dana White in an interview with Fuel TV after this past weekend’s UFC on FOX 3 event.

Currently Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz are coaching against each other on TUF 15. The show’s finale is scheduled for June 1 with the next season likely planned for a September start-date.

However, semantics aside, the outspoken executive’s entry this time around is extremely entertaining nonetheless.

In it White captures Urijah Faber outside the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas where the company is currently filming the Ultimate Fighter 15. However, Faber doesn’t realize he’s being filmed thanks to a mirrored window, proceeding to preen/pose with his shirt off while eating lunch and talking on the phone.

“We got the whole f*cking pose-down, Arnold,” a guffawing White jokes to Faber after the scenario unfolds.

When the MMA community discusses the name Greg Jackson it’s usually in relation to the coach’s reputation as one of the top trainers/corners in the sport. However, one word UFC President Dana White associates with Jackson that few others consider in relation to the sought-after sensei is “businessman”.

White recently gave his thoughts on Jackson’s role in the situation surrounding light heavyweights Jon Jones-Rashad Evans (who fight for the divisional title this weekend at UFC 145). As has beaten into the psyche of every MMA fan, Jones and Evans were former teammates at Jackson’s gym and had a falling out after Evans decided to leave, citing a sense of betrayal brought on by Jackson and Jones’ behavior.

“There is one thing that is an absolute fact, and no matter how often Greg Jackson pumps that family (expletive), Greg Jackson is a (expletive) businessman. The more top guys he brings in, the more money he makes. There’s nothing wrong with Greg Jackson, but he’s a (expletive) businessman,” said White in an interview with Yahoo Sports. “Some of these fighters, who ought to know better but don’t listen to that (expletive) and don’t take it for the crock of (expletive) that it is. These guys need to make the decision where they train based on where they think they’ll get the best work and develop the best, and not on this (expletive) crazy idea that you’re becoming a part of a family.”

“Greg Jackson (expletive) told Rashad this wouldn’t happen, that they’re family and all that other (expletive), but look what is going on now. Look and see who is at Jackson’s and who is not,” continued White, adding a bit of advice for fighters along the way. “Train where you think it’s going to be best for you and if that’s Jackson’s, that’s fine. Just don’t buy into this family (expletive) because there’s nothing to it. This is the fight business, not the friend business.”

The UFC has encountered other past issues involving teammates not wanting to fight each other such as Jon Fitch-Josh Koscheck and Evans-Keith Jardine. Similarly to the root of the issues between Jones-Evans, in those cases a sense of personal loyalty was cited rather than focusing on the business aspect involved.

While the outspoken executive didn’t address the headliner between Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos specifically, he did bring up the man who many have pegged as a replacement for Overeem if the disgraced Dutchman fails to obtain a license based on his recent drug testing results.

“Mir vs. Cain will happen,” wrote White on the social networking outlet, implying Frank Mir is still set to face Cain Velasquez on May 26 rather than being considered for a title-fight against Dos Santos. White has also said Dos Santos is still defending his belt at the event, leaving many fans to scratch their heads in an attempt to figure out the UFC’s post-Overeem plan.

Last week Overeem was found to have more than twice the level of testosterone in his system allowed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He has not spoken publicly on the matter yet though will need to do so in the near future if hoping to save face and maintain his role as the heavyweight division’s top contender. In order to receive a license Overeem will need to meet with the NSAC and have his “B” sample cleared, the latter being extremely rare when requested in similar situations.

With Mir and Velasquez seemingly out of the picture, if Overeem is yanked from the bout with Dos Santos, other possibilities are extremely limited and have even included a fan-driven attempt to put Mark Hunt in the mix.

White, as passionate as any MMA fan, has never been one to bite his lip when he has an opinion to share and didn’t start with Overeem’s probably removal from a massively promoted main event in May.

“How f*cking stupid do you have to be? Seriously dumb. Anybody who’s using right now is an absolute f*cking moron. It’s beyond, what’s the word I’m looking for, it’s beyond belief. It’s beyond comprehension. You’re an absolute moron, a brain dead absolute f*cking dummy. It goes beyond a guy having any common sense whatsoever,” said an animated White after learning about Overeem’s situation during a conference call with Canadian media (props to The Star Phoenix for the transcription).

“I am beyond pissed about this. The worst part is that he sat in front of us and lied to us,” continued White, alluding to Overeem’s past promises pertaining to his suspected abuse of steroids. Overeem’s positive hit for drug use this week involved an elevated level of testosterone in his system.

“It doesn’t look good, does it? It doesn’t look good,” White concluded on Overeem’s future in the UFC.

Overeem still has an opportunity to clear his name by facing the NSAC with his “B” sample returning a negative result. No word has surfaced from the UFC relating to how the Dutchman’s UFC 146 fight with Junior dos Santos will be handled though Frank Mir has expressed his willingness to fill in on late notice if necessary.

The show featured sixteen live, elimination-style bouts to determine who would make it into the house and compete on this season.

“Going into this thing…you’re always nervous when you do something new and do something different,” said White in an interview with MMAJunkie. “We worked long and hard on this show to make sure this came off with no hitches. I’m very happy with how it came off. It was perfect.”

Bantamweights Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz, coaches on the season, provided commentary during the live fights with White. However, several of them didn’t last very long with finishes in half of the bouts though White clearly didn’t mind,

“We’ve got a lot of guys who are very good, guys who are strong finishers,” the outspoken executive glowed. “I love that. I love guys with killer instincts.”

TUF 15 will air every Friday for the next thirteen weeks with a live fight capping off highlights from the previous week of training/in-house antics.

The 41-year old, who was last seen defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last year, is said to have decided his next fight will be for either the UFC light heavyweight or middleweight belt but nothing less.

However, both those titles are currently tied up as Jon Jones will defend the light heavyweight strap against Rashad Evans next month, while middleweight champion Anderson Silva is scheduled to face Chael Sonnen later this summer.

“He wants a title fight,” said UFC President Dana White during the UFC on FOX 3 press conference earlier this week. “He either wants Anderson Silva or whoever has the belt at 185, or the winner of Evans and Jones.”

White added that “Hendo” is not concerned with who has the title – just that he competes for one, saying, “Dan doesn’t seem too picky.”

Henderson has yet to wear UFC gold, though has held championships for PRIDE and Strikeforce. The 29-8 legend has not addressed White’s assessment since it was made though in recent weeks he has said he wanted to fight in the next few months.

However, after finding out many of his ideas and plans had been nixed, White decided to end any future work with the promotion and remain 100% behind the UFC.

According to the outspoken White, he was planning on skipping Friday’s UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann card in Australia to help make sure things went smoothly in the states.

“I’ll never make that mistake again,” said White, in an interview with MMAJunkie. “UFC is what I am and where I should have been.”

White added that he didn’t even get the respect of a call from Showtime executives shooting his suggestions down, saying one of his underlings instead received notice his ideas would not be implemented at last night’s event.

“So I said, ‘F*ck them,’” White concluded, criticizing the company’s choice to take advice from someone with less experience than him in the MMA business.

It remains unclear what White had in mind in terms of changes, but he was very critical of the production that Showtime put forth for the event. He did say that as long as Zuffa owned Strikeforce they would continue putting together high-caliber fights but that he would no longer offer his own input in production decisions.

In the clip, also White does a little shopping at a MMA-related store in Saitama, though the highlights definitely come from his backstage interactions with UFC 144 fighters Frankie Edgar and Quinton Jackson.

“What are you weighing,” White asks Jackson who responds with a laugh, “You don’t wanna know.”

Another entertaining exchange between White and “Rampage” relates to Jackson’s desire to move to Japan for a year in hopes of learning the language. However, it’s not necessarily for the reasons one might assume.

“My kids be talking sh*t about me. My two youngest kids are Japanese. They’re fluent. They talk sh*t about me right in front of my face. I just want to learn so I can talk sh*t back to them,” Jackon jokes. “I can understand a little bit of what they’re saying but I just know they’re talking sh*t about me. But I don’t know what they’re saying. They’re laughing because they know I don’t know. That’s embarrassing that your kids can speak a language you can’t.”

UFC 144 takes place tomorrow night starting at 10:00 PM EST with prelims on Facebook/FX starting a few hours earlier.

Ellenberger, who picked up his sixth straight win with the performance, fought to a Split Decision with Condit in 2009 and is a legitimate top contender to the divisional title.

“I have no idea. We’ll see what happens. Again, tonight’s the night of the fight. Carlos Condit’s sittin home tonight. In three months he might have a different opinion. He might say, ‘You know what, let’s do this.’,” said White on the post-event Fuel TV breakdown.

“I think that if I’m Carlos Condit and the Diaz match is available I take the Diaz match,” White continued while alluding to the possibility of Nick Diaz not being suspended by the NSAC for marijuana use. “If not, I probably sit around and wait for GSP. It makes all the sense in the world. He just came off a Split Decision against Ellenberger. He knows if he beats GSP he’s gonna end up facing Ellenberger again. But also on the May 5 card on FOX we have Koscheck fighting Hendricks so we’ll see what happens.”

With Georges St. Pierre out until at least November it seems possible Condit may get the itch to defend his interim belt after already having been out of action for the better part of a year leading up to his decision win over Diaz. If Condit does decide to wait and GSP suffers no setbacks while rehabbing from his knee injury a likely eliminator bout could potentially be put in place between Ellenberger and Johny Hendricks if he emerges victorious against Josh Koscheck.

As far as Sanchez, who could be moving to lightweight again, White showed nothing but respect, stating, “The kid’s a stud. He brings it every time. He comes to fight. Tell me the last Diego Sanchez that sucked. If the kid wants to fight at 55, 45, 25…he can fight wherever he wants to.”

Previously it was believed Condit would face Nick Diaz in a rematch based on the controversial nature of their UFC 143 bout. However, with Diaz’s status still in limbo due to his pending retirement/suspension, it looks like no other opponents are on the table for “The Natural Born Killer” other than St. Pierre.

“We don’t know when Georges is coming back yet, but Carlos isn’t going to fight another fight,” said White in a conversation with MMAJunkie.

White also cleared the air surrounding a rumor Condit only accepted a second fight with Diaz after hearing from a source that the Stockton scrapper had tested positive for marijuana use.

“Condit won the fight. He won the right to fight Georges St. Pierre. He won the title. But I swear to God on my children’s lives, if you think there’s some conspiracy here or something, he accepted the f*cking fight.”

In the meantime it appears tonight’s tilt between Jake Ellenberger-Diego Sanchez and the recently announced UFC on FOX 3 fight between Johny Hendricks-Josh Koscheck will simply serve to help set up an eventual opponent for the winner of Condit-St. Pierre barring some sort of setback for GSP keeping him out longer than expected.

Penn taking a headlining spot on the card. However, even despite Penn’s continued retirement, it appears White is still planning on taking his fight promotion to Hawaii in the near future.

The UFC card would take place inside Aloha Stadium, a venue seating 50,000 people when completely filled.

“We’re still working on that, but we want to do it,” said White, in a recent interview with MMAWeekly. “We’re coming regardless (of the Penn situation). But that was the fight I really wanted to do there.”

While nothing is set, it is possible Penn could decide to come back to MMA once an event is confirmed for Hawaii. Penn decided to hang up his gloves after falling to Nick Diaz at UFC 137 but has since come out to say he might be willing to return once his batteries are recharged if the situation is right.

Now it appears the UFC may be open to obliging the request with an opponent already in mind – Nick Diaz.

Diaz, who Condit outpointed last night at UFC 143 in the evening’s main event, was seen by numerous fans, fighters, and media members as having deserved the victory based on his aggression as opposed to Condit’s calculated counter-attack in the extremely close contest. While UFC President Dana White was not among them, stating he felt Condit deserved the judges’ favor, he apparently understands the argument against it and would be willing to put the fight together if both sides agree to terms.

“It’s crazy, but…I was thinking about it after the fight,” said White in an interview with MMAJunkie. “People are bitching, and people think that was close…we could do that fight again before GSP comes back.”

However, White isn’t ready to force Condit into an immediate rematch with Diaz nor does he know if Diaz has any interest in continuing his MMA career based on his post-fight statements about retirement.

“It depends on Carlos, too. Carlos has got to say – and Nick’s got to say, ‘I want to fight him again,’ too,” White explained.

Fighters facing off in back-to-back bouts is not without precedent, such as when Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn squared off in consecutive clashes after “The Answer” barely beat Penn the first time around.

And, as always, UFC President Dana White will be offering MMA fans a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on before, during, and after such a big event.

In the first episode of White’s video blog, we see plenty of action from this past Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 card, an event boasting fights like Rashad Evans-Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen-Michael Bisping, and Demian Maia-Chris Weidman.

The blog shows you several moments before the fights and even more after, including Joey Beltran weeping after his knockout loss and a final segment between White and Weidman, the latter of whom cut several pounds in just a few short days to take on Maia on short notice.

“Go home and hit the buffet with (Matt) Serra,” White joked with Weidman in the backstage area. Serra, a former UFC champion, is one of Weidman’s primary coaches.

However, White came face-to-face with the real deal late last week while in Chicago for UFC on FOX 2.

While doing a media appearance for the show at WGN, the central hub of Chicago broadcasting for years, White stumbled upon the set from the long-loved Bozo Show where he was inclined to investigate further.

The scene is one of the numerous humorous bits captured in his latest video blog where he also jokes around with Joe Rogan about the UFC’s battle with hackers and attends the weigh-ins including a close-up perspective of the face-offs.

Lawal and Santos, who are both currently facing discipline after testing positive for PED usage, each made excuses for the result rather than showing genuine accountability for having slipped up.

Specifically, Santos said she had taken a substance she wasn’t completely familiar with as a means of helping her cut weight, while Lawal explained the drug in his system was part of a supplement he’d bought over the counter at a fitness supply chain.

UFC President Dana White addressed the topic in an interview with MMAFighting where he showed little sympathy for either disgraced athlete, especially in terms of how they’d handled the post-test fallout.

“If you get caught doing something, admit you did it,” said White. “The whole ‘Somebody put something in my system that I didn’t know about?’ I mean, who here lets someone put sh*t inside them that you don’t know what it is?”

“Anybody that’s ever said that they didn’t know what’s being put in their body is full of sh*t,” the outspoken executive concluded while saying he’d rather see fighters own up to their mistake instead of tap-dance around it.

Lawal is not planning to appeal his failed test, hoping instead the NSAC will be lenient based on his admission of guilt, while Santos is fighting the CSAC’s sentence of a yearlong suspension.

Speaking with Ariel Hellwani for the UFC post-fight show on FUEL TV, White made it known that he is happy with how Melvin Guillard acts, that Chael Sonnen will face Anderson Silva if he defeats Michael Bisping despite Sonnen talking Jon Jones/Georges St. Pierre, and the UFC heading to Atlanta is not a done deal – yet.

On the Sonnen-Silva II front, Sonnen claimed in an interview Friday that if he defeated Bisping at next Saturday’s UFC on FOX 2 card, “The Spider” would not agree to fight him. Instead, Sonnen said he would go after the UFC light heavyweight or welterweight championship.

“I, 100 % right here, now, guarantee that if Chael Sonnen wins that fight, Anderson Silva will fight Chael Sonnen this summer,” said White, who added that it is possible the bout would go down in Brazil.

So when Dana White overreacts to certain aspects of his company, like fights not delivering or his fighters doing something stupid, it’s to be expected.

The difference between you, me, and White is that he’s in charge of a multi-million dollar company.

Moving forward, on Thursday night Dana fired Miguel Torres for an unfunny tweet about a rape van. Dana didn’t see the comment prior to being interviewed in Canada by Michael Landsberg, but made the decision shortly after the interview to release Torres without talking to the bantamweight star.

Earlier in the day, Rashad Evans made a comment about Penn St. and their child molestation scandal directed towards his upcoming opponent and PSU alum Phil Davis. Instead of firing or fining Evans, Dana talked to the former UFC champ, let him explain himself, and decided that Rashad was sorry and that it wouldn’t happen again.

We all see the double standard here. Even though Rashad’s comment was far worse than Miguel’s, Miguel was the one released because he’s never headlined a PPV that did a million buys. Lets not look at the double standard though.

Instead, lets look at Dana and his overreaction to one situation and his sensible reaction to the other. With Torres, he was essentially blindsided with news of the tweet and reacted immediately without giving the fighter a chance to explain himself. With Rashad, even though his comment was made just a few feet away from White, he claims he didn’t hear the comment but once he got news of it, he let Rashad explain himself.

It’s not like this is the first time Dana has overreacted to a situation. The problem with his overreactions though is that he always takes the extreme. It’s either the worst thing in the world to happen or the best. There’s no middle ground with him. And once again, when you’re the head of a multi-million dollar company, it’s probably not the best idea to take the extreme.

When Quinton Jackson had his run in with the law or certain female reporters, Dana allowed “Rampage” to explain himself and let him off with nothing more than a warning, much like he did with Evans.

When Junior dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez in 64 seconds, Dana overreacted to the negative extreme. He was obviously upset that his big main event lasted just over a minute, but instead of praising JDS, he instead decided to bury both fighters on national TV.

When Jason Miller lost to Michael Bisping last weekend, Dana took to Twitter to call it, “the most one-sided fight in UFC history,” even though there was a fight not three hours before that was more one-sided. Once again, it was an overreaction to the negative extreme.

When Frankie Edgar came back to defeat Gray Maynard at UFC 136, Dana took the positive extreme and called Edgar the #2 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

There are plenty of other examples of Dana reacting to one extreme or the other to all kinds of situations. Unfortunately it’s usually more negative than positive, but I get it. Dana is a very emotional guy. If you don’t believe me, just watch him and Joe Rogan scream at everyone to order the PPV even though we can hear him just fine.

We can all agree that Dana has done great things for the sport of MMA and that the UFC likely wouldn’t be in this position if someone else were in charge. He’s a guy that inspires confidence in his group, thanks in large part to his emotions. But that emotion is going to get him into trouble, especially now that he’s even more in the public eye thanks to the FOX deal.

Personally, I think Dana needs to step back a little bit. Right now he’s the face of the UFC. Whether he’ll admit that or not, he is. He’s the most public figure in the company. He has the most twitter followers, he’s in the Bud Light commercials, he does more interviews than any other figurehead in any other major sport, and he does video blogs every week, and he’s always in the public eye.

When you’re as emotional as Dana and when you’re in front of the public as much as Dana, you’re going to say stupid things. It’s the environment he’s created. You want to know why guys like Forrest Griffin, Torres, and Evans make rape and molestation jokes or why guys like Frank Mir say they want to kill other fighters? It’s because Dana, the head of the company, reacts on emotion and calls journalists “b*tches” and “c*nts” and throws around “f*ck” like it’s a football and he’s Aaron Rodgers.

Dana isn’t going to change his ways, but he can tone down just how much he does. Let Lorenzo Fertitta be in front of the camera a bit more at press conferences and on media calls, definitely don’t allow Dana to be front and center on the FOX shows like he was on November 12, and someone should probably monitor what he puts out on twitter as well.

MMA is a sport where guys get paid to punch each other in the face. We shouldn’t expect them to act like Taylor Swift, although they could learn a few things from her about how to become a media darling, but they have to know when they’re crossing line. But before Dana can police his fighters, he needs to do a better job policing himself.
