Melvin Manhoef came out with his guns blazing in his bout with Paulo Filho and rocked the dangerous submission artist badly on several occasions before eventually being dragged to the canvas. Once there, Filho made short work of Manhoef as he locked on the game ending armbar to bring the exciting bout to a conclusion midway through the first.

Jesse “JT Money” Taylor earned his seventh straight win since being released from the UFC, although it didn’t come in the fashion he had hoped for.

Taylor came out strong and shot for the takedown on Dong Sik Yoon right away. During the takedown Sik Yoon’s leg was snapped like a tree branch. Surprisingly the injured warrior fought on valiantly before eventually succumbing to the pain on the ground giving Taylor the first round TKO victory due to injury.

Hayato “Mach” Sakurai was cut early into his match with Marius Zaromskis prompting the referee to call a halt to the action so the doctors could take a look at the injury. After a short deliberation process with the doctors the action was restarted.

Sakurai was almost immediately blasted with a brutal left high kick that sent him crashing to the canvas. A couple of hard follow up punches prompted the referee to call and end to the contest sending Zaromskis into the DREAM welterweight finals.

Sakurai was widely regarded as the favorite to win the tournament.

Zaromskis is a Lithuanian fighter that entered the bout with Sakurai sporting a record of 9-2. The win over Sakurai made it three consecutive wins for the welterweight.

He went on to face Jason High in the welterweight grand prix finals where he knocked the American unconscious with a brutal head kick to claim the championship.

Be sure to come back to FiveOuncesOfPain.com for all of your latest breaking DREAM 10 live results and play-by-play action.

The event is scheduled to air live on HDNet on Monday, July 20 at 3 am ET (translation: really late Sunday night), so all of you hardcores be sure to take a nap because the Japanese events run looonng.

There will be the semis and finals to the welterweight tournament, appearances from “JT Money“, Melvin Manhoef, Paulo Filho; and Shinya Aoki will be in the house, rocking his trademark spandex while facing off with the extremely capable Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro.

Be here or be square.

We’re just about under way folks. First fight will be starting shortly.

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Ikemoto Seichi (Welterweight Grand Prix Reserve Bout): We’re off. The two measure each other for a while before clinching up against the ropes. They exchange big knees in the clinch. They separate and exchange blows. Back to the clinch. They break and Seichi throws a big superman punch, which he follows shortly after with a spinning backfist. Seichi scores a takedown and begins to ground and pound. Saffiedine works back to his feet and they clinch against the ropes. The ref separates the two. Big right hand by Saffiedine. Tarec seems like he’s on to something as he throws heavy bomb after heavy bomb. Five Ounces scores the round 10-9 for Saffiedine

Saffiedine starts out the second measuring Seichi with the big right hand. He continues to tee off with power shots before securing a takedown with just under two minutes left in the bout. Tarec passes to side control, and then to mount…Seichi scrambles and drops back for a heel hook but comes up empty. Back to the feet, and Seichi ends the bout with a takedown. Five Ounces scores the round 10-9 for Saffiedine

Winner: Tarec Saffiedine – Unanimous Decision

Hayato “Mach” Sakurai vs. Marius Zaromskis (Welterweight Grand Prix Semifinals): They trade in the center of the ring and Sakurai has sustained a nasty gash above his left eye. Time is called while the doctors check on it. They let it go. Huge head kick by Zaromskis and Sakurai hits the deck. A couple of punches later the fight is appropriately waved off.

Winner: Marius Zaromskis – TKO Round 1

Andre Galvao vs. Jason High (Welterweight Grand Prix Semifinals): They scramble on the ground after standing briefly and Galvao locks up the left leg of High looking for a submission. He’s working hard for a kneebar but somehow High escapes. Galvao takes his back, looking for the rear-naked choke. Galvao has High’s body triangled as he punches to the side of the head looking for the strangle hold. High is doing a fantastic job defending. Galvao ends up in the mount. Total domination for the Brazilian so far with one minute to go. Galvao sinks in the choke and squeezes hard but High escapes again. The round ends with Galvao looking for an armbar. Five Ounces scores the round 10-9 for Galvao

High starts out dropping bombs in the second. Galvao falls to the floor but High wants nothing of his ground game so the ref stands him up. Galvao presses forward while High is cautious of the takedown. High moving forward now, looking for a big bomb to land and end the fight, throwing hard kicks. Five Ounces scores the round 10-9 for High

Winner: Jason High – Split Decision

Andre “Dida” Amade vs. Katsunori Kikuno: Amade starts the round throwing hard punches but nothing lands solid. The two size each other up for close to two minutes. They clinch but nothing happens and they break. Kikuno is throwing nothing, “Dida” is throwing very little. The referee stops the action and warns both men to start fighting. They restart and Amade is content to sit back and do nothing but Kikuno sure isn’t. He rushes forward and rocks “Dida” with a big kne and some hard punches. He drags the Brazilian to the canvas and takes the mount where he proceeds to beat the stuffing out of Amade for the TKO victory.

Winner: Katsunori Kikuno – TKO Round 1

Paulo Filho vs. Melvin Manhoef: Manhoef starts out quick and clips Filho bad. Filho clinches up for a bit but Melvin creates space and begins to tee away. Manhoef begans to bang away again and Filho scores a takedown out of it. The Brazilian takes the mount and transitions to an armbar for the come from behind victory.

Winner: Paulo Filho – Submission Round 1 (armbar)

Jesse Taylor vs. Dong Sik Yoon: Jesse shoots right away and ends up scoring the takedown. Taylor works to side control, then works his way to Yoon’s back. It appears as though Dong is injured and the ref stops the fight. The doctors pay close attention to the left ankle of Yoon at the conclusion of the bout. The replay shows Yoon’s leg shattering off of the initial takedown from Taylor. Brutal injury.

Winner: Jesse Taylor – TKO Round 1 (injury)

Shinya Aoki vs. Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro: Aoki is sporting normal fight trunks over his trademark spandex tights. Kind of a let down to be honest.

Aoki controls the pace of the fight on the feet for the first half of the opening round using his reach to his advantage. Aoki is working some good kicks and Shaolin reaches in without much success. The referee stops the fighters and urges them to pick up the pace. They clinch but nothing happens and they break. They continue to feel each other out with nothing much happening. Aoki lands a big knee to the chin in the clinch. Aoki is consciously choosing to keep the fight standing. Five Ounces scores the round 10-9 for Aoki

Ribeiro starts out the second with a sense of urgency but Aoki throws a flying knee and winds up on the Brazilian’s back. They separate and Aoki continues to dominate the stand-up. Shaolin with the takedown. Aoki is working his trademark rubber guard but Ribeiro is doing a good job of avoiding anything dangerous. Aoki closes his guard and does nothing much else to finish out the round. Five Ounces scores the round 10-10

Winner: Shinya Aoki – Unanimous Decision

Marius Zaromskis vs. Jason High: High winds up in the top position early on but Zaromskis scramble back to his feet and scores his own takedown. Back to their feet…. HUGE right head kick by Zaromskis knocks High out cold. The Lithuanian fighter follows the kick with a couple of hard punches but High was already fast asleep.

Winner: Marius Zaromskis – Knockout Round 1 (Welterweight Grand Prix Champion)

It’s official, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic truly has abandoned the UFC after his recent victory over Mustapha Al Turk at UFC 99 to compete for Japan’s DREAM promotion.

Filipovic has agreed to face off with heavy handed K-1 knockout artist Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga at Dream 10.

The event is scheduled for July 20 in Saitama, Japan.

Cro Cop recently fell under an umbrella of controversy after Kevin Iole from Yahoo! Sports reported his intentions to leave the UFC after a one fight stint with the organization despite giving UFC President Dana White and UFC fans his word that he would continue to compete with the promotion.

The victory over Al Turk didn’t come without it’s own controversy as Cro Cop brutally gouged Al Turk’s eyes with his fingers just prior to the disputed TKO stoppage.

Mighty Mo has amassed a 14-9 record during his kickboxing career and a record of 3-1 during his time in MMA. He suffered his first mixed martial arts defeat on New Years Eve 2008 when he was caught in a Semmy Schilt triangle choke after going 3-0 with three knockouts to start out his career.

Mo is an extremely dangerous and naturally large striker with dynamite in his fists. He poses a real threat to put Cro Cop back in the loss column after three straight wins.
