Fighters Only Magazine got an interview with the previously hidden and now re-emerging Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

He discussed many things including a possible fight with Wanderlei Silva, his bout against Forrest Griffin at UFC 86 and the fact that he lost respect for Griffin for fully believing he won their fight and not talking about an immediate rematch:

Jackson says that he has “lost a lot of respect” for Griffin in the wake of the fight, largely because the new champion has not been talking of a rematch despite winning the belt in controversial fashion.

“After the fight, I said ‘I’ve got to give you a lot of respect, because you hurt my leg and you had a good game plan’,” he explains.

“But now, I don’t respect him as a man. Because if it was me, I would have said, ‘I have to give him a rematch right away, to remove all doubt’.

“I’m a man and when you fight it’s all about honour. I’m not angry at him or anything, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve lost respect for him as a man.”

Rampage earlier states that he believes he won their previous fight and was being sarcastic when he said he got his ass kicked in his post-fight interview.

There might have been some doubt in the fight’s outcome with people falling on either side but almost no one could call it a bad decision. Perhaps a rematch is in order and maybe this is Quinton’s way of getting it. Either way I’ll leave it up to you to decide if he was actually being sarcastic in his interview.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Forrest Griffin and TUF 6 Champ Mac Danzig were down in Shreveport, Louisiana earlier this week on set of the movie “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”. Griffin and Danzig have a small part in the film, playing cops in a movie based on the shenanigans of Tucker Max.

For those that don’t know, Tucker Max was blogging about his drunken, womanizing exploits before the phrase “blogging” even existed.  He turned his stories into a book deal and now is filming a movie based on his book/stories/life by the title “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”

FiveOuncesofPain.com is the first MMA site to bring you these pics, as they were leaked to us by a source on set.  And next week we’ll be giving away signed copies of Tucker Max’s book “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”.

According to MMAjunkie.com, a heavyweight clash between Gabriel Gonzaga and Justin McCully has been added to the card for UFC 86 on July 5 in Las Vegas.

McCully, a member of Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment, has not fought since his successful debut at UFC Fight 9 in April of 2007. During that fight, McCully, who was added to the card as an injury replacement, recorded an upset unanimous decision over Antoni Hardonk.

McCully is currently undefeated in his last four fights but has not fought in over a year due to various injuries. He’s been rumored for several matchups over the past several months but nothing had been finalized.

Gonzaga is currently mired in a two-fight losing streak, having suffered back-to-back TKOs against Randy Couture at UFC 74 and Fabricio Werdum at UFC 80. He rose to national prominence following his upset TKO over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 70 in April of 2007 after he knocked Cro Cop out with a head kick in the first round.

UFC 86 will take place at the MGM Grand and will feature a light heavyweight title defense by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against Forrest Griffin.

Not too long ago Dana White made a comment to Deadspin regarding a fight between Kimbo Slice and Chuck Liddell, saying that Kimbo’s not ready for Chuck yet and that he heard a rumor that Slice had been knocked out by Forrest Griffin in a sparring session recently. According to a recent interview with Kimbo at MMA News, that’s not the case:

“No, there is no truth to that at all. It’s bullshit and Forrest Griffin will tell you that it’s bullshit too. The fact is it was a good sparring session and I was training with Forrest and he was talking to me about defending yourself at all times and then he threw a big kick and I was like “WOAH I never even seen that coming” but no I never got knocked out. Even if I did get knocked out, saying that and putting that rumor out there just makes you a pussy.”

That’s the word according to MMAWeekly.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Frank Mir will fight Justin McCully on July 5 in Las Vegas, sources close to both camps have confirmed. Bout agreements have been signed….

Obviously this looks like a fight to keep Mir busy and most likely get him another win on his way to a UFC Heavyweight Title shot in the future. Of course that also rests on whether Justin McCully will be able to stay healthy enough to actually get into the cage. We’re hardly at a David Terrell level but it will be about 16 months since his last fight, an absolutely dominating ground-and-pound decision win over Antoni Hardonk at Fight Night 9.

UFC 86 takes place on July 5th at the Mandalay Bay and will be headlined by a Light-Heavyweight Title bout between Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin.

UFC heavyweight Justin McCully hinted at a possible match against Brock Lesnar during Friday night’s airing of “Inside MMA” on HDNet.

At the end of the show, host Kenny Rice ask the three-man panel about their future plans. When it was McCully’s turn, he indicated a match against Lesnar was possible, without referring to the former NCAA heavyweight champion by name.

“We’ve been talking about fighting this big, huge guy (that) just crossed over from wrestling promotion,” the Team Punishment member responded to Rice. “That’s in the talk right right now. We’ll see. I hope it comes through. I like that fight a lot. If not, I don’t know what’s on the horizon? But I’ll be back in action, in the Octagon, for sure, by June.”

Rice then brought up Lesnar’s name and McCully responded by saying “Yeah.” A date or location for the possible fight was not brought up and at no point did McCully indicate that the fight was official.

McCully has not fought since recording an upset unanimous decision victory over kickboxer Antoni Hardonk at UFC Fight Night 9 on April 5. He has been sidelined due to an elbow injury that required surgery, as well as scheduling conflicts. McCully had been discussed as a possible opponent for Cheick Kongo at UFC 82 on March 1 but reportedly did not sign a proposed bout agreement in time because he was overseas on a USO tour.

Loretta Hunt of The Fight Network is reporting that Team Punishment heavyweight Justin McCully has been offered an opportunity to fight Cheick Kongo at UFC 81 in Las Vegas on February 2.

According to Hunt, McCully has yet to accept or turn down the offer.

The UFC 81 card could be loaded with heavyweight bouts. In addition to a possible fight between McCully and Kongo, a match between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir has been announced and there’s growing speculation that Tim Sylvia and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira could compete for the vacant UFC heavyweight title.

According to UFCjunkie.com, agent Ken Pavia has confirmed that a contract for a bout at UFC 76 between Justin McCully (who Pavia represents) Christian Wellisch has been signed.

Left without an opponent, Tom Murphy has been removed from the UFC 72 card this Saturday in Belfast, Ireland.

UFCJunkie.com broke the news late last week that Jake O’Brien had to pull out of the match against Murphy with a back injury (which could be career-threatening, according to his agent, Ken Pavia).  The UFC had contacted Justin McCully about filling in as a last-minute replacement but he couldn’t get his injury suspension reduced.
