Report: Chris Lytle signs extension with the UFC; set to face Paul Taylor at UFC 89

Welterweight veteran Chris Lytle has signed a four fight extension with the UFC, MMAjunkie.com reported on Tuesday.

Citing Lytle’s agent Ken Pavia as their source, Junkie also is reporting that Lytle will return to the Octagon at UFC 89 on Oct. 18 at the NIA in Birmingham, England. While it has yet to be officially announced by the UFC, the report indicates that Lytle’s opponent is expected to be UK-native Paul Taylor.

Lytle is 25-16-5 overall and 4-8 lifetime in the UFC. He last competed at UFC 86 on July 5, losing a unanimous decision to Josh Koscheck. Despite his status as a UFC fighter, Lytle continues to work full-time as a firefighter in the Indianapolis-area.

UFC 89 is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight bout between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben.
