Evans, the older brother of TUF 2 heavyweight winner Rashad Evans, has been announced as the opposition for former minor-league hockey enforcer Steve Bosse during TKO 35 on Oct. 3 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Evans was one of 16 light heavyweight fighters invited to Las Vegas earlier this year to fight his way onto the show. Facing jiu-jitsu black belt Vinicius Magalhaes, he elected to withdraw from the fight following the completion of the first round after complaining of a rib injury.

Duarte, a lightweight competitor, lost a closely contested qualifying bout against FiveOuncesOfPain.com guest blogger Phillipe Nover after he submitted to a rear naked choke in round 2. He has been announced as having signed a contract with the Calgary, Alberta-based Colloseo Championship Fighting promotion. A debut date has not been determined.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com also broke the news last night that Jason Guida, the older brother of UFC lightweight competitor Clay Guida, has signed with EliteXC and will debut for the promotion during its Oct. 10 ShoXC event at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. Polish fighter Mamed Khalidov is expected to be Guida’s opponent.

Guida was featured prominently during last night’s premiere even though he technically wasn’t even a part of the field of 32 fighters by being dismissed from the competition and replaced by alternate Mike Stewart after having missed the 205 lbs. weight limit by just one pound.

Additionally, TUF 8 light heavyweights Antwain Britt and Ryan Lopez have been advertised as fighting for the Mid Atlantic.-based Ultimate Warrior Challenge promotion on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Fairfax, Virginia at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University. Lopez is expected to be featured during next week’s episode but the revelation that Britt will be competing outside of the UFC in October comes as a surprise following his decision victory over Ryan Jimmo during last night’s airing.

The latest installment of our feature here on 5 Oz. that gives you a look at what fighters to keep an eye on during this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter features Joe “Hybrid” Duarte.

There’s been a lot of rumors about Duarte coming into this season. At one point last month, Dana White was quoted as saying that he’d found “the next Anderson Silva” and early speculation points to Duarte as the fighter that White is talking about. “I was going off when I saw this guy,” White said. “He’s 24 and he’s destroying people. It’s sick how bad ass he is. I’m getting goose bumps talking to you about him.”

Duarte, according to his personal website, cuts to 155 lbs. from 185-190 lbs. That’s an absolutely ridiculous cut for a 155 lbs. fighter. You hear of guys at 185 lbs. dropping down to 170 lbs. (i.e. Mike Swick), but to 155 is just ridiculous. Duarte is 9-0 in pro boxing, 19-1 in Muay Thai, and 3-0 in pro MMA and trains out of Alliance MMA in San Diego. He is definitely a lightweight to look out for on this upcoming season. His two most recent MMA fights are below.
