It appears they may not be a tenth, at least where Kelly’s immediate future is concerned.

Five Ounces of Pain has learned the lightweight’s camp is currently seeking fights outside of the UFC due to what appears to be an imminent release from the promotion. “Tellys” was submitted in the second round of his preliminary pairing with Donald Cerrone after beginning the bout with a bit of controversy surrounding an opening bell strike rather than glove-tap.

The loss to Cerrone was Kelly’s third loss in his last five fights including a decision to Jacob Volkmann and TKO defeat to Dennis Siver. If he does receive an official release from the organization, as expected, he will exit the UFC with a 5-4 record. Kelly is 11-4 overall with his most recent victories coming against Matt Veach and T.J. O’Brien. Eight of his wins have come by way of a finishing performance.

The network last aired undercard action in November for UFC 123. The two bouts believed to be targeted for the broadcast feature WEC stand-outs Chad Mendes and Donald Cerrone making their promotional debuts.

News of the still-unfolding scenario was reported by MMAWeekly where it was explained sources have indicated negotiations between Spike and the UFC are moving in a positive direction.

If things continue as planned fans will have a chance to see Mendes and Cerrone in two of the biggest tests each has faced thus far in their collective careers. The 9-0 Mendes is set to mix it up with Michihiro Omigawa, a winner of his last five fights with past success in the ring against Nam Phan, Marlon Sandro, Hatsu Hioki, and others. Meanwhile, Cerrone will square off against 26-year old Brit Paul Kelly who possesses a well-rounded attack and five wins in the Octagon.

UFC 126 is headlined by a middleweight championship bout featuring title-holder Anderson Silva putting his belt up for grabs against Vitor Belfort. Other notable match-ups on the card include former champs Rich Franklin vs. Forrest Griffin and Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader.

Paul Kelly, who recently announced his intentions to move from welterweight to lightweight, will be making his debut in the 155 pound division against The Ultimate Fighter season 8 contestant Rolando Delgado.

MMAWeekly.com is reporting that the Kelly vs. Delgado matchup has been confirmed between and is most likely ticketed for the UFC 99 undercard during the UFC’s German debut on Saturday, June 13.

Kelly, who trains out of the Wolfslair Academy, is coming off a victory over another Ultimate Fighter veteran Troy Mandaloniz at UFC 95 last month in London, England. Soon after the win Kelly made the decision to move down in weight.

The British born fighter is 8-1 with his lone loss coming at the hands of Marcus Davis at UFC 89. He was also awarded a “Fight of the Night” bonus after defeating fellow British fighter Paul Taylor at UFC 80.

Delgado is a jiu-jitsu black belt who made a successful debut in the UFC at live finale for the eighth season The Ultimate Fighter where he defeated housemate John Polakowski via second round submission.

While on the show, Delgado had the legitimacy of his black belt questioned by many of the other contestants as well as coach Frank Mir. His opponent, Junie Browning, even went as far as to throw a black belt in front of Delgado after their fight on the show had been announced and spit on it. Delgado gave Browning all he could handle pushing the fight to a third round in which he ultimately lost despite being a heavy underdog.

UFC 99 will take place in Cologne, Germany and will emanate from the Lanxess Arena. The show’s main event will feature former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin and former PRIDE middleweight (203 pounds) champion Wanderlei Silva in a catch weight bout that will be contested at 195 pounds.

British fighter Paul Kelly, who was victorious over Troy Mandaloniz at last week’s UFC 95 event in England, has revealed to Setanta Sports that he now plans on dropping down to the UFC’s lightweight division.

Kelly who won a unanimous decision is known for being heavy handed but he feels as though his power will translate better if he fights at 155 pounds. The U.K. native has always had plans on making the move down to lightweight but wanted to wait until he signed a new contract with the UFC.

Kelly also wanted to end his run as a welterweight with a win but said that while the decision is up to the UFC regarding his move he feels as though it is the best decision for him. Fighting as a welterweight does not require him to cut any weight at this time and he doesn’t see any problems making the lightweight limit.

Kelly expressed that he felt his fight with Mandaloniz was exciting and felt that is he had lost his career with the UFC may have been in jeopardy. He calls fighting his lifestyle and he is only interested in putting on good fights.

He went on to say that he was able to win because of his heart and determination. Quinton Jackson, a teammate of Kelly’s the Wolfslair Academy, was in his corner shouting some very good advice. Kelly referred to Jackson as his “homeboy” and said that when he fights he feels as though his teammates are in the cage fighting with him.
