Instead of Attonito, Story will now face Papy Abedi on the June 22 card set to emanate from the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Abedi-Story fight will be part of the Fuel TV-televised prelims.

Abedi (8-2) has suffered two consecutive first-round submission losses since joining the UFC with Thiago Alves and James Head both stopping the Swedish-Congolese fighter within the first five minutes of action.

Meanwhile, Story (13-5) has gone from a possible contender at welterweight to potentially fighting for his job against Abedi. At one point he had won six straight inside the Octagon including success against Alves and Johny Hendricks but the 27-year old came up short against Charlie Brenneman and Martin Kampmann in his last two outings.

The UFC on FX 4 card is topped by lightweights Clay Guida and Gray Maynard mixing it up in the main event.

The UFC’s summer stop in Atlantic City bulked up overnight like a “gorilla juicehead” getting ready for a summer down at the Jersey Shore with the addition of multiple match-ups including a particularly interesting welterweight pairing between Rick Story and Rich Attonito. Each will be looking to bounce back from a loss and is known for employing an aggressive strategy inside the cage meaning fans should be in for a treat when UFC on FX 4 rolls around on June 22.

Also confirmed by the UFC were clashes between T.J. Waldburger-Brian Ebersole, Nick Catone-Chris Camozzi, and Matthew Riddle-Luis Ramos. UFC on FX 4 is headlined by a five-round fight between top lightweights Clay Guida-Gray Maynard.

The 13-5 Story recently had a six-fight winning streak snapped with back-to-back losses to Charlie Brenneman and Martin Kampmann. However, with past wins over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks there’s no doubt the 27-year old has what it takes to beat the division’s best, giving local product Attonito the stiffest test of his career in front of his hometown fans.

Attonito has gone 3-2 since a stint on TUF 11 but was knocked out with elbows in his previous appearance this past December. The 10-5 “Raging Bull” has six stoppages to his credit including four TKOs.

Now, a few days removed from the bout, Story is revealing why.

Kampmann took home a Split Decision, handing “The Horror” his second consecutive loss inside the Octagon after being defeated by Charlie Brenneman earlier this year.

“I wanted to apologize to all of my fans for my last performance. I ruptured my bursa (sac) and tore my meniscus in the second round. I lost all strength and made it difficult to fight,” Story wrote on his Twitter account.

Story, however, revealed some good news, saying that he recently signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and is expecting to return to action in the middleweight division very soon. Prior to his losses to Kampmann and Brenneman, Story had won six straight fights, including victories over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks.

Martin Kampmann and Rick Story have a lot in common besides the fact they’re coming off hard-fought decision losses in their last Octagon appearances. Both well-rounded welterweights with a willingness to engage any opponent while standing despite past success on the ground, the two talented fighters will meet in the Octagon this November 19 at UFC 139 in hopes of bouncing back from their recent stumbles and re-establishing themselves as a top contender in the division.

The UFC reported the match-up earlier today through their website.

Five Ounces of Pain spoke to Kampmann who, when asked about the upcoming scrap, responded, “He’s a tough wrestler with a great chin, it should make for a exciting fight.”

Story had a six-fight winning streak snapped in June after taking a fight against Nate Marquardt on short notice only to have Marquardt replaced at the last second by Charlie Brenneman due to abnormally high testosterone levels. Prior to the defeat the 26-year old had racked up victories over Johny Hendricks, Dustin Hazelett, and Nick Osipczak, as well as in an all-out war against Thiago Alves a month before his lackluster showing at UFC Live 4.

“The Hitman” is also on the heels of a disappointing result at a UFC Live event, albeit a defeat he endured in a less-decisive fashion. Kampmann battered Diego Sanchez for the bulk of their bout last March only to have the judges award his opponent the win on the scorecards. Kampmann holds an overall record of 17-5 with thirteen finishes including six submissions and seven TKOs.

UFC 139 is scheduled to take place in San Jose and will feature Rafael dos Anjos vs. Gleison Tibau, Tom Lawlor vs. Chris Weidman, and Brian Bowles vs. Urijah Faber.

Fresh off a gutsy decision win over knockout artist Thiago Alves less than a week ago at UFC 130, the 13-3 Story has agreed to head back to the Octagon before the end of June against another apt adversary in the form of former middleweight contender Nate Marquardt.

News of the replacement was reported through the UFC’s website where it mentioned Marquardt’s original opponent, Anthony Johnson, had been scrapped from their headlining bout at UFC Live 4 due to an undisclosed injury.

Including his outpointing of Alves, Story has won six straight fights and twelve of his last thirteen including victories over Dustin Hazelett, Nick Osipczak, Johny Hendricks, and Jake Ellenberger.

Though the match-up for Marquardt may have changed, it is likely his camp won’t as Johnson and Story are both talented wrestlers with powerful hands. Their June 26 pairing will mark the divisional debut of Marquardt at welterweight after a successful run at 185-pounds. He holds an overall record of 31-10-2 and was last seen beating Dan Miller by Unanimous Decision in March at UFC 128. Other notches on his belt include Martin Kampmann, Kazuo Misaki, and Demian Maia.

Alves mentioned the expected bout on Twitter, adding that he didn’t know who he would be facing but that it didn’t matter because “he’s going down”.

The American Top Team-trained striker had dropped two decisions prior to his win in Montreal, including a title-shot to Georges St. Pierre and follow-up fight with “Top 3” welterweight Jon Fitch. Alves improved his record to 18-7 with the win including successful performances against Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, and Chris Lytle.

According to a report on MMAWeekly, one potential in-ring adversary for the 27-year old is Rick Story with a targeted date of May 28 in Las Vegas. Story is 12-3 with wins in eleven of his last twelve bouts including the last five times he’s stepped into the cage. Though Alves will represent the highest-profile opponent Story has encountered in the Octagon, he has had his hands raised against a number of notable competitors such as Dustin Hazelett, Johny Hendricks, and Jake Ellenberger.

A welterweight bout between John Hathaway vs. Rick Story is expected to be added to the lineup for UFC 99 on Saturday, June 13.

A source close to the fight has revealed to FiveOuncesOfPain.com that verbal commitments have been secured froom both fighters and that at least one of the fighter has returned a signed contract to the UFC.

Signed to a multi-fight contract prior to UFC 94 as a potential replacement for Karo Parisyan in a scheduled bout against Dong Hyun Kim, Story will be making his long-awaited debut for the promotion at UFC 99. Coming from a strong wrestling background, Story has an impressive 7-2 record that includes notable wins over Brandon Melendez, Ryan Healy, and Jake Ellenberger.

His first fight will be against Hathaway, a 21-year old U.K. native who made his Octagon debut in Dublin, Ireland this past January. Discovered during the tryout process for the upcoming ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, he made a strong impression on UFC officials following his first round TKO victory over Tom Egan at UFC 93. With the win, Hathaway improved to 10-0 as a pro.

UFC 99 will emanate from the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany and will be headlined by a 195 pound catchweight fight between former PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin.

Reportedly enlisted as potential replacement fighter for UFC 94 in the event that Karo Parisyan was forced to withdraw from his welterweight bout against Dong Hyun Kim, prospect Rick Story never got his chance to make his Octagon debut as Parisyan was able to stay on the card and record a decision victory over Kim.

Despite not getting to fight at UFC 94, sources have informed FiveOuncesOfPain.com that Story will get a chance to compete in the Octagon on a future card after signing a four fight contract with the promotion.

Story, 7-2, came onto the UFC’s radar while on the heels of a current six fight winning streak. His most recent win took place this past September during an Elite Warriors Championship event in which he recorded a first round submission over Brandon Melendez, a veteran from the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

A strong wrestler who hails from Portland, Oregon, Story also has recorded notable victories over Wesley Welch, Jake Ellenberger, and Ryan Healy.

MMA Junkie is reporting that a bout between Ben Saunders and Jared Rollins has been signed off on by at least one of the fighters for UFC 86 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Saunders is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Dan Barrera at the TUF 6 Finale where the two met in a rematch of their controversial fight on the show. Rollins, on the other hand, is coming off of a TKO loss to Jon Koppenhaver at the TUF 6 Finale.

This is a solid addition to the undercard of a pay per view which features TUF 7 coaches Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Forrest Griffin squaring off for the UFC light heavyweight crown.
