Interestingly enough, Frank Mir was not one of them. Though the former UFC heavyweight champ scored the card’s only knockout, no “Knockout of the Night” bonus was actually awarded for his flattening of Mirko Filipovic.

No official reason was given for the omission. However, it seems plausible the decision could indicate executives’ displeasure with the lackluster showing from Mir prior to his night-ending knee.

News of the bonuses was announced at the post-event press conference.

While no “Knockout of the Night” was given, dual “Fight of the Night” honors were handed out. Both Evan Dunham and Sean Sherk, as well as Matt Mitrione and Joey Beltran, were announced as a quartet of winners for their pair of highly entertaining, hard-fought bouts.

Meanwhile, CB Dollaway’s opening-frame Guillotine Choke of submission-savvy opponent Joe Doerksen earned him “Submission of the Night” and the seventy-thousand dollars. The result marked Dollaway’s third consecutive victory, while snapping a seven-fight win streak for Doerksen and being the first time he’d tapped out since October 2005.

A new published report is claiming that former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk is slated to test his superb wrestling skills against another former collegiate wrestler in Frankie Edgar.

The news comes courtesy of MMAMania.com, which quotes a source to Sherk as indicating that the fight has been agreed to and is scheduled to take place at UFC 98 on May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sherk improved his overall MMA record to 33-3-1following a unanimous decision victory over Tyson Griffin during UFC 90 this past October. A long-time UFC veteran, the Minnesota native holds notable victories in his Octagon career over Nick Diaz, Kenny Florian, Benji Radach, and Tiki Ghosn.

Edgar is 9-1 and has not competed since recording a unanimous decision victory over Hermes Franca during UFC Fight Night 14 this past July, The win improved Edgar’s UFC record to 4-1 with notable victories over Griffin, Spencer Fisher, and Mark Bocek.

In Part II, we ask Sherk to give his thoughts on last week’s controversy involving Jon Fitch; his feelings on the THQ licensing agreement and whether he has signed it; as well as Sherk’s feelings about B.J. Penn’s absence from the UFC’s lightweight division while he pursues Georges St. Pierre and the UFC welterweight title.

Before we get to Part II of this interview, we’d like to thank Round 5 for making Sherk available to us as a part of the launch for the second series of their “Champions of MMA” action figures.

Sam Caplan: I wanted to go back to the whole Fitch situation. He was technically only a free agent for 24 hours from the time he was cut to the time everything was worked out. But Dana said it was a number of things and that it wasn’t just a marketing agreement. He indicated that a lot of the problems stemmed from issues with Fitch’s camp and management. However, it’s been said that the video game likeness issue was definitely one component of the whole big picture. As far as the UFC 2009: Undisputed, I wanted to ask if you had signed a specific licensing agreement for that game?

Sean Sherk: Yes, I did. I’ve got no problem with that. I love being a part of the UFC and I’m really excited to see everything that has come into play with the organization. I’ve been with UFC since day one. UFC 30 was the very first UFC that Zuffa was the owner of. I’ve been with Zuffa since day one and I’m really excited with all the stuff they have going on now. Dana called me and said “Hey, I’ve got this thing going with the video game.” I already did a photo shoot for the video game so I knew I was going to be in it and I’ve got no problem with signing an exclusive deal.

Sam Caplan: But now there is some question whether it’s even exclusive. Dana has come out and confirmed that it is indeed a lifetime agreement but has disputed reports that it’s exclusive. Meaning, the UFC will always have the right to use your likeness for a video game but that if you were to go to go elsewhere, you’d still have the freedom to appear in a competing game.

Sean Sherk: Okay. I haven’t even had a chance to go over the contract in detail yet. That’s fine. If someone wants to throw me into a video game then I don’t have a problem with that. It’s only going to help me, really. However the UFC wants to go about that — they know what they’re doing and I’m not going to try and dispute what they’re doing because they’ve obviously made a lot of progress in this industry and if it wasn’t for them, none of us would be where we are at right now.

Sam Caplan: Do you receive additional compensation for appearing in the game?

Sean Sherk: I do not know. What I do remember about it — and again, I’m not real familiar with the contract, as I haven’t read it in detail yet — but I do know we can sell sponsorship spots on there. So they are going to allow us to sell hats, shorts, shirts, and patches and with that being said, you could very easily make $100,000 off something like that.

Sam Caplan: I wanted to ask you about the Tyson Griffin fight. It was a unanimous decision victory in your favor and I wanted to know how you felt about that fight. Was it a fight you were looking forward to and how did you feel about your performance and Tyson’s?

Sean Sherk: Again, I’ve been out of it for the past couple of weeks and I haven’t even seen that fight on video yet. Just from what I remember while actually being out there fighting, I felt it was a good fight and we got fight of the night and everyone was happy.

I got a lot of praise afterwards and a lot of compliments on my hands, which was kind of the gameplan going in. The plan was to try and shoot in a couple of times but not waste too much energy shooting on him and spend most of my time out-boxing him. My boxing is very, very underrated and if people want to continue to underrate my boxing, that’s fine, because I will box your ears off.My boxing is better than what people give me credit for. It’s not a hole in my game by any means.

The fight with Tyson pretty much turned into a kickboxing match, which I kind of had thought it would. It was exciting and we were going back and forth and really getting after it and I think a lot of people enjoyed it.

Sam Caplan: Has there been any indication as to when you might be fighting next?

Sean Sherk: I have no idea. I’m going to assume… maybe April? I don’t really know for sure, as I haven’t spoken to anyone with the UFC yet. I was hoping to get the winner of Joe Stevenson vs. Kenny Florian and I was actually hoping that Stevenson would win that fight because I wanted to fight Joe next. But I hear they’re offering a title shot now so I don’t what’s in line for me next.

All I really want to do is just fight the best guys in the industry. I want to fight people that have as much to offer me as I have to offer them. I want to fight somebody with a resume that looks like mine. I’m not interested in fighting up and comer guys; I’m not interested in fighting guys that have never been in main events or co-main events; I’m not interested in fighting guys that have never beaten world class competition.

Again, I want to fight guys with the same kind of resume as me and I think I deserve that. I’ve got 41 professional fights; I’ve fought in two separate weight classes; I’ve fought for titles in two separate weight classes; and I’ve been ranked alongside the top fighters in the world for the past seven years. I just want to fight the best guys out there and I want to fight guys that have something to offer me.

Sam Caplan: You mentioned that you only want to fight top guys and that you don’t want to fight up and coming guys. Coming into the Tyson Griffin fight, which category did you think Tyson fell into?

Sean Sherk: In my opinion, coming into the Tyson Griffin fight, I felt Tyson was the top contender. You look at everyone who he had beaten and he has beaten some really tough guys. He’s gotten fight of the night two or three times and he had been main card several times and I looked at him like a top contender.

It was actually me that had asked for that fight, and those are the reasons why. I was looking at the entire division and I looked at it and said, “Tyson Griffin, that’s the top guy and that’s who I want to go after” and so that was the fight I asked for.

Now that I’ve beaten Tyson, I look at the division and go, “Okay, where do I go now?” I don’t see anybody that’s got that type of resume. I considered him to have a good resume and like I said, I’m just looking to fight guys that have resumes like mine and that are top contenders and are guys that I can benefit from fighting.

Sam Caplan: If the UFC told Kenny Florian, “Hey, you’re going to have to wait a while to cash in that title shot but you can fight before then but risk your title shot” and Florian was okay with that, would a rematch vs. Florian be something that you were interested in?

Sean Sherk: Definitely. I think Kenny has got a great resume. He fought me for the world title, he’s been the main event several times, he’s been co-main event several times, he’s beaten top competition and is on like a five or six fight win streak. He’s gotten a lot of exposure and I’d love to have that fight.

But I don’t think they’re going to offer that fight to me though because then I’ll be fighting for the belt rather than him and I just fought B.J., who is kind of in hiatus right now. He just kind of left the weight class. With 155, it’s one of the most stacked weight classes right now and the unfortunate thing is that there is no one at the top of it defending the belt right now. There are a lot of guys fighting their way up to the top trying to get title shots and then once you get up to the top, you’re like, “Okay, so where’s the champion?”

You don’t even have anyone to fight so it’s kind of frustrating to me and it’s got to be frustrating to other guys because nobody really knows what’s going on right now. It just kind of sucks. I think if you’re going to be a champion for the weight class then you should stay at that weight class and defend the belt. If you go to a different weight class then the belt should be left behind and give somebody else an opportunity to fight for it.

Sam Caplan: So you’re saying that if B.J. wants to go after the welterweight title currently held by Georges St. Pierre that he should have to relinquish the lightweight title?

Sean Sherk: To be honest with you, if you’re going to be gone 13, 14, or 15 months, I think you should relinquish the belt. There’s a lot of guys right now fighting their way to the top and trying to get that belt. A lot of guys want that number one contender spot. Once you get that number one contender spot, then what? The champion is gone. The champion is fighting at 170 so now when you get up to that number one contender spot you can’t even fight for a belt because the champion is not competing in the weight class anymore.

For me, it’s a hard pill to swallow because I want to be the number one contender; I want to fight for the belt. Okay, but where’s the champion? Kenny wants to fight for the belt. Okay, but where’s the champion? We’ve got no champion to fight so basically we just keep fighting for the number one contender spot. The number one contender spot is pretty much the championship belt, I guess.

Sam Caplan: Leading up to the Penn fight it was depicted that there was a lot of bad blood between the two of you. Yet, since that fight, photos have surfaced on the Internet of you two hanging out. How real was the animosity the supposedly existed between the two of you before you fought?

Sean Sherk: Leading into the fight, that was 100 percent real. We both felt like we owned that belt and he took the steroid thing for all he could and I mean it was definitely 100 percent real. We actually did a TV show together and did an appearance together so we were hanging out for a few days, which was no big deal. I’m willing to let bygones be bygones but ultimately I want to fight for that belt again and he’s the one who has it so he’s the one that I want to fight. And if we fight again I guarantee you there’s going to be a lot of heat and there’s going to be a lot of fireworks just like there was before.

Sam Caplan: What’s the relationship with Penn like now?

Sean Sherk: We’re both professionals in and outside of the cage. If I see B.J. inside the cage, I’m going to want to fight him. If I see B.J. outside of the cage then I’ll shake his hand and say “Hey, how are you doing?” That’s how I am and that’s how I operate.

Sam Caplan: Do you consider him a friend?

Sean Sherk: It’s hard to call someone a friend when you haven’t hard a chance to get to know them very well. There’s very, very few people that I consider friends in this industry. There’s a lot of people that I consider acquaintances of mine and I guess I would consider B.J. and acquaintance more than anything.

Sean Sherk is coming off the heels of a unanimous decision victory over fellow lightweight title contender Tyson Griffin at UFC 90 last month at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Sherk and Griffin combined for “Fight of the Night” honors by largely putting their outstanding wrestling skills on the back burner and instead electing to try and brawl it out. In sharing FOTN honors, Sherk put on perhaps the best display of technical boxing in his nine-year career.

However, the strong performance has left Sherk in a state of limbo. A former UFC lightweight title holder before the California State Athletic Commission suspended him over claims that he had tested positive for steroids, Sherk would like nothing better to get another shot at the belt.

But that shot will have to wait, as the division’s current champion, B.J. Penn, is set to moonlight in the welterweight division when he faces Georges St. Pierre for the 170 pound strap on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.

Sherk recently took time out to speak exclusively with FiveOuncesOfPain.com as a part of a media tour he’s doing on behalf of Round 5′s “World of MMA” series two action figures and discussed a number of topics, including his feelings on Penn’s involvement at welterweight.

In Part I of this two part series, Sherk discussed his feelings about the resignation of Armando Garcia as the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, Brock Lesnar’s win over Randy Couture, his involvement with Round 5, and more.

Sam Caplan: Did you feel any sense of satisfaction upon hearing that Armando Garcia was going to resign?

Sean Sherk: Yeah, I mean, definitely. There’s no love lost there. That’s definitely music to my ears. I felt he obviously handled my case very, very poorly and he had handled many other fights very poorly. And he handled the UFC poorly.

You know, the UFC hasn’t been back in California since July of ’07, after my fight. UFC 73 was the last time they had been there. Now, if the UFC leaves your state and refuses to come back, there’s a reason for that. So there’s a lot of things going on there and there’s a reason why he resigned. It’s not coincidence; there’s a reason why he resigned and rightfully so.

Sam Caplan: What’s your reaction to published reports that he engaged in an improper relationship with a female staffer?

Sean Sherk: (Laughs) I’d like to know who that female staffer was, to be honest with you because there were a couple people on that panel while I was undergoing my trial that I felt were under his wing. I’d be curious to see if that was one of them.

Anyway, I didn’t know what the reasoning behind him resigning was. I didn’t know what it was. I just assumed it was because how he handled a lot of different situations while he served as head commissioner.

Sam Caplan: You’ve said in the past that you’d never fight in California again. With Armando Garcia leaving and changes at the top of the commission, are you now open to the possibility of fighting in California again?

Sean Sherk: To be honest with you, I think there needs to be a little more change. Armando was the big problem, obviously, but there’s other people on the commission’s board that I believe if they were to take over, they’d do about the same job as he did. I think there needs to be more change and only time will tell. I’m not going to run back and fight in California and take a chance of going through the same thing I just went through. I’m just going to wait and see what happens. It’s going to take some time.

Sam Caplan: You’ve maintained your innocence since day one but you’ve exhausted your appeal process with CSAC. Do you have any plans to try and get your name cleared through the courts or is the alleged positive test result a dead issue?

Sean Sherk: I would love nothing more than to take this thing back to court — actually, take it to court and in front of a real judge and get a fair trial because you go to the appeal and you’re dealing with the commission. (The commission) is the judge, jury, and the prosecution and there’s no way you’re going to get a fair hearing.

I’d love to take this thing to court but in all reality it’s going to take me $20,000 or $30,000 to take this thing back and the chances of me getting this thing overturned and actually doing something back are so slim because there’s really nothing I can do about it. They’re right and I’m wrong regardless of how many times I say I didn’t do it or regardless of how many lie detectors I take or regardless of how many blood tests I take. If they say I take steroids then I guess I take steroids (and) there’s nothing I can do about it.

So really, I’m just not willing to spend money just so I can get kicked in the ass again. I’ve got no interest in fighting in California and the whole thing just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth because this is something I’ll never be able to escape. Even after my last fight against Tyson there were still people yelling and booing and calling me a cheater and all of this other crap even though I didn’t do it. Obviously people don’t check into their facts too much. I did pass a polygraph test three times and I did pass my blood test. Blood work is much more accurate for testing for steroids than urinalysis.

If people don’t want to check into the facts, then that’s fine. It’s just something you’ve got to deal with when you’re in the spotlight and I just have no interest fighting in California again.

Sam Caplan: It’s holiday shopping time so I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask you about Round 5′s “World of MMA Champions” series of action figures that feature several UFC fighters, including yourself. My understanding is that you played a very active role in Round 5′s design process?

Sean Sherk: Yeah, I was. I was introduced to the guys at Round 5 about a year ago and was presented with the opportunity to be a part of the company and have my own action figure, which was something I was very excited about. From there we just started going through the molding stages.

The cool thing about it was that as we were going through the design process, I actually had a say in how everything was going to turn out. Everything from the pose of my figure, to the types of shorts that I wear, to the types of sponsors on my shorts, and everything to the look. Everything was basically my decision, which was pretty cool to have such a big part in it.

I also had a big part in the launch. We did a launch and we went out to Canada with Randy Couture and we did a big launch. I’d say probably about five months ago, right around when the first series came out. I had a big part in that and now I have a big part in the launch of series two.

It’s been a lot of fun and I am really excited. I am looking forward to walking through the stores one of these days and seeing my action figure on the shelf. I think that would be pretty cool and a nice moment in my career.

Sam Caplan: With these action figures, is it a license that Round 5 got through the UFC, or a license they signed directly with you?

Sean Sherk: This is something we did through me. The UFC has their own set of action figures through Jakks Pacific and Round 5 is a separate entity. We did this through me and it’s the first of its kind as far as MMA action figures. The UFC has their own coming out in probably another year or so. But Round 5 is something I did totally separate of the UFC.

Sam Caplan: In working with Round 5, does that preclude you from being involved with Jakks and having the UFC marketing a Jakks figure of Sean Sherk?

Sean Sherk: I’m exclusive to Round 5 and obviously I can’t have any competitors out there using my likeness for action figures. When I signed my deal with Round 5, the UFC had no intentions of coming out with action figures at the time.

Sam Caplan: When you signed your deal with Round 5 did the UFC have any issues it?

Sean Sherk: You know what? Dana has been totally cool with it. I’ve talked to him about it several times and I told him I was exclusive with Round 5 and this was a deal I had signed six months prior to the UFC announcing that they were going to have their own action figures. It was something they were totally cool about. I’m all for making money in this industry and I think Dana is all about it too so he was totally cool with it.

Sam Caplan: Were you able to stay abrest last week of the controversy involving Jon Fitch, the American Kickboxing Academy, Zinkin Entertainment, and the UFC?

Sean Sherk: I heard that Fitch got let go but I wasn’t really sure why. I heard it was something to do with the marketing agreement or something of that nature. But I just moved into a new house last week and I didn’t get Internet until yesterday so I’ve been completely out of it for three weeks. I didn’t even see the Lesnar vs. Couture fight until today. I didn’t even know who won until I watched it this afternoon at the Academy. So I’m pretty out of it and I don’t even know what that was about.

Sam Caplan: Well, let me first get your thoughts on the Couture vs. Lesnar bout if I could?

Sean Sherk: I thought it was good. I know Brock won the fight but you’ve got to give it to Randy Couture. I mean the guy is 45-years old and is out there fighting a guy that’s 30, 60 pounds heavier, a national champion wrestler, who is just a crazy phenomenal athlete and I thought he performed pretty damn good.

You’ve got to give it to him, the guy is still one of the best heavyweights in the world but it just so happens that Brock is a beast. There aren’t a lot of guys that are going to do that to Randy Couture. There are maybe one or two guys that could potentially beat Couture in the heavyweight division and stylistically vs. Brock, it just wasn’t a good matchup for him.

Sam Caplan: Do you think now with the win that Brock is the best heavyweight in the world?

Sean Sherk: Stylistically that was a hard matchup for Randy but there aren’t many guys in the world that can beat Randy Couture. Nogueira is not going to beat him; Mir is not going to beat him; and none of those jiu-jitsu guys are going to beat him because Randy has been in this industry for a long, long time. He’s going to beat a jiu-jitsu guy — I’d beat my money on it.

Brock is still new to jiu-jitsu and stylistically those are the matchups that are going to be more difficult for Brock. The guys such as Nogueira and Mir are going to be more difficult for Brock. I’m not saying Brock isn’t going to beat them but those are the matchups that are going to pose the most problems in my opinion.

In an unfortunate turn of events at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois this evening, Patrick Cote blew out his knee in the opening moments of the third round during his middleweight title fight with Anderson Silva. Cote is the only competitor to take Silva into the third round during his UFC career and at the opening of the third frame he blew out his knee while hopping toward Anderson Silva in an attempt to engage.

It appeared as if Cote tweaked the knee during the second round while engaging with Silva but was able to shake it off and continue the round. During the opening moments of the third, however, the knee gave out on Cote and he was unable to continue the fight, awarding a disappointed Anderson Silva a TKO victory.

Before the accident Silva was more or less toying with Cote for the first two rounds, picking his spots and delivering vicious strikes almost at will when he wanted to, landing a nasty head kick, a vicious knee, and a straight left that rocked Cote’s head backward. Cote was unable to land anything significant but came out of the first two rounds almost unscathed except for a small cut on his forehead.

Both fighters were visibly disappointed with the outcome as Anderson Silva clearly wanted to finish the fight the right way and Cote was upset that his opportunity to shock the world had been taken from him due to an injury and not because Silva took it from him. There is no word on whether a rematch will take place at this point but it would seem only fair to both fighters, especially seeing as how Cote survived for two rounds against the sport’s most dangerous fighter.

In other action on the card, Thiago Alves won a unanimous decision victory over a very game Josh Koscheck. Alves caught Koscheck early on with a left hook that landed behind Koscheck’s ear and dropped him. It appeared that Alves might be able to finish from there but Koscheck was able to recover quickly and fight Alves tooth and nail until the end. Alves was able to pepper Koscheck’s legs with devastating leg kicks throughout the fight and also fended off all of Koscheck’s takedown attempts. It was an impressive win for Alves over a very legitimate welterweight contender. Alves proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the clear cut number one contender for the 170 lbs. title in the UFC.

Gray Maynard was able to secure a unanimous decision victory over Rich Clementi in the third fight on the main card, using his outstanding wrestling ability to smother the crafty Clementi. Clementi never really threatened during the fight, on the feet or standing, and Maynard was able to take him down at will and neutralize Clementi’s ground game. The Chicago fans, who thought the fight was boring, booed Maynard during the decision and he apologized to them for a boring fight during the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

Junior Dos Santos shocked most of the MMA world in defeating Fabricio Werdum in the opening moments of the first round. Dos Santos landed an absolutely crushing uppercut right on Werdum’s nose that dropped the Chute Boxe fighter to the ground. From there Dos Santos pounced on Werdum and landed a couple more shots before the referee stepped in to stop the fight. Impressive UFC debut against a heavyweight who was widely considered one of the best heavyweights in the world.

During the event’s opening bout on the main card, Sean Sherk bounced back from his loss against B.J. Penn, winning a unanimous decision victory over Tyson Griffin in what went down as one of the best fights of the evening. Griffin and Sherk traded blow for blow in the standup game because neither fighter was effectively able to take the other fighter down and keep them there. Sherk was able to take Griffin down a couple of times but was never able to keep him there. Griffin was always able to get back to his feet, shrug Sherk off him, and away they went with the kickboxing match. The two fighters seemed to be almost mirror images of one another and that made for a great fight with lots of striking action. Sherk did enough with the takedowns and his standup to come away with the decision.

The official results of the card are below:

Pete Sell def. Josh Burkman Decision (Unanimous)
Hermes Franca def. Marcus Aurelio Decision (Unanimous)
Dan Miller def. Matt Horwich Decision (Unanimous)
Spencer Fisher def. Shannon Gugerty Submission (Triangle Choke) 3 3:56
Thales Leites def. Drew McFedries Submission (Rear Naked choke) 1 1:18
Sean Sherk def.	Tyson Griffin Decision (Unanimous)
Junior dos Santos def. Fabricio Werdum KO (Punches) 1 1:21
Gray Maynard def. Rich Clementi Decision (Unanimous)
Thiago Alves def. Josh Koscheck Decision (Unanimous)
Anderson Silva def. Patrick Cote TKO (Injured knee) 3 0:39

Series II of Round 5 MMA collectible figures now has it’s fourth and final member: Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva. Silva joins Sean Sherk, Rich Franklin, and Anderson Silva in the second series of these 6 inch collectibles. Series I is made up of MMA icons Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, and Quinton Jackson.

The detail and artistry of these figures is the design of famous McFarlane artist David Cortes.

Personally, I find it interesting that they have included logos of each fighters main sponsor on the lil’ shorts. You can clearly see the logos of American Fighter, MMAOverload.com, Toe2Toe, and Sinister. Depending on the cost for this sponsorship, that is an excellent way to associate your brand with the fighter and the sport of MMA in general.

You can purchase the Series I figures in stores such as Champs Sports, F.Y.E., KB Toys, MMAWarehouse.com and a host of other toy collectible websites. Series II will become available this holiday season.

FiveOuncesofPain.com first told you about these figures back in Oct 2007 and provided an update in June 2008.

The report, which cites sources from both camps, indicates that both parties have verbally agreed to accept the bout and that bout agreements will be signed and delivered by week’s end.

Sherk returned to action on May 24 at UFC 84 following a six-month suspension handed down by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs following his successful UFC lightweight title victory over Hermes Franca at UFC 73 in July of 2007.

Sherk’s initial suspension was for a full year but was reduced to six months through a lengthy appeals process. Because he was not able to get the suspension overturned, the UFC was forced to strip Sherk of the lightweigh title.

Upon his Octagon return, Sherk was dismantled by new UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn, losing via TKO after the referee decided to stop the fight at the completion of the third round following a flurry of knees and punches from Penn.

Griffin, a member of Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas, improved his MMA record to 12-1 following a unanimous decision victory over Marcus Aurelio at UFC 86 in July. The win also improved his UFC record to 5-1 with his lone loss coming to Frankie Edgar at UFC 67. Since suffering the one and only defeat of his career, Griffin has gone 4-0 with wins over Clay Guida, Gleison Tibau, and Thiago Tavares.

He is the only fighter ever to defeat current WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber when the two fought at Gladiator Challenge 42 in 2005.

UFC 90 is scheduled to take place from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., just outside of Chicago. It will be headlined by a UFC middleweight title defense by Anderson Silva against Patrick Cote. Other bouts expected to take place include matchups between Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves; Melvin Guillard vs. Spencer Fisher; Fabricio Werdum vs. Junior dos Santos; and Gleison Tibau vs. Hermes Franca.

This site first told you about the Round 5 MMA action figures back in Oct ‘07 (here) and we are pleased to announce that they are finally ready to purchase. You can get yours right now at MMA Warehouse. They are also available at KB Toys and f.y.e. (USA) and Toys R Us (Canada).

Series 1 features Randy Couture, Rampage Jackson, Matt Hughes and Tito Ortiz. MMAMania.com is reporting that Series 2 will feature Sean Sherk, Rich Franklin and Anderson Silva. The fourth action figure spot may go to Forrest Griffin, Wanderlei Silva, or BJ Penn. I’d like to see Penn or Wandy. Not sure if Griffin is at “action figure” status just yet…
