Mandaloniz suffered a unanimous decision loss against Paul Kelly this past Saturday at the O2 Arena in London, England during UFC 95. The defeat dropped his lifetime record in the UFC to 1-1 and his overall MMA record to 3-2.

The fight vs. Kelly was considered to be exciting by many pundits, but was apparently not enough to keep Mandaloniz from being cut.

“I thought I showed them what I was made of, but I guess not,” Mandaloniz is quoted as saying on BJPenn.com. “I don’ think I see too many other fighters out there fighting with the same passion and intensity that I bring.”

Mandaloniz joins a list of fighters recently cut by the UFC that includes Eddie Sanchez, Christian Wellisch, Matt Arroyo, Rich Clementi, Nate Mohr, Reese Andy, Derek Downey, and Luigi Fioravanti.

Kelly is 7-1 and trains with Michael Bisping and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at the Wolfslair Academy in England. UFC 95 will serve as the third time Kelly has fought in the Octagon with his record in his previous two fights standing at 1-1.

Kelly made his UFC debut at UFC 80 last January, where he defeated Paul Taylor via unanimous decision in a fight that earned the promotion’s “Fight Night” bonus for “Fight of the Night.” The Englishman returned at UFC 89 this past October and submitted to a guillotine choke by Marcus Davis at 2:16 of round 2.

Mandaloniz, a native of Hilo, Hawaii has trained in the past with B.J. Penn and now currently trains with TUF 3 middleweight winner Kendall Grove.

The bout vs. Kelly at UFC 95 will mark the first time Mandaloniz has fought since December 8, 2007. Facing Richie Hightower during the live finale for TUF 6, the 29-year old improved to 3-1 following a first round TKO.
