In Part I of FiveOuncesOfPain.com’s exclusive interview with M-1 Global President and manager for Fedor Emelianenko, Vadim Finkelchtein, discussed in detail some of the specific negotiation points that came up during contract negotiations between the UFC and Fedor. FiveOuncesOfPain.com contacted M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein earlier this week in attempt to get his response to comments made by UFC President Dana White during a Monday night interview with “The Carmichael Dave Show” on KHTK radio in Sacramento. Finkelchtein granted FiveOuncesOfPain.com’s interview request on New Year’s Day and conducted nearly an hour long interview... [Read More...]
More on Fedor Emelianenko’s pay from Affliction
There seemed to be a big to-do about Fedor Emelianenko’s official salary that was posted from the CSAC this past week. Emelianenko, on record, made a measly $300,000 for his fight against Tim Sylvia while Sylvia made a whopping $800,000. There was much speculation as to what Fedor was actually paid and now Mike Chiappetta at NBC Sports is reporting that the rest of Fedor’s money was indeed... [Read More...]

Cung Le might not be long for MMA
With Cung Le’s next MMA opponent uncertain, it appears his next major career move could be to establish himself further as an actor. In a new interview with TopGunMMA.com, Le indicated that he plans to commit himself more to filming movies in the near future. “I have two movies that are going to be released,” Le is quoted as saying in the interview, referencing his role as Marshall... Shamrock vs. Le: Fight of the Year?
For me, Saturday’s main event between Frank Shamrock and Cung Le was somewhere between good and great. I will call it a very good fight. Round three was tremendous and while Shamrock vs. Le might be the fight of the year thus far, I think it will be a disappointing year for MMA if it is in the top five of top matches come year’s end. I enjoyed the fight and the San Jose crowd really added... [Read More...]

Shamrock vs. Cung Le Thoughts & Commentary
(EliteXC/Strikeforce photos provided by TOM CASINO/EliteXC) Shamrock vs. Cung Le: Fight of the Year? Maybe. I won’t get too far ahead of myself because it’s only March 30th, but this fight has set a precedent for entertaining fights in the coming months. It may not have been the all out technical mixed martial arts fight that touched everywhere like the Frankie Edgar vs. Tyson Griffin... [Read More...]

Frank Shamrock: “Cung’s not a good standup fighter…”
Frank Shamrock breaks down Cung Le’s strengths and weaknesses in this video. It’s always fun to hear Frank talk about the art of fighting and how he perceives things. Even though he has the biggest ego of anyone in the sport, the way he talks so passionately about it makes him one hell of an ambassador for the sport. Thanks to Bloody Elbow for digging up this video. Check out more Frank... [Read More...]
Why Cung Le will beat Frank Shamrock
When the possibility of a match between Cung Le vs. Frank Shamrock began to be floated in early 2007 (and really, the two were talked about as possibly fighting each other long before that), my initial reaction was that Shamrock would tear through Le. The thing was, I was only looking at things on the surface and did not analyze things thoroughly. To me, it was simple: Le is inexperienced in MMA and... [Read More...]

Shamrock vs. Shamrock in March? Not so fast, says Cung Le
There have been a lot of people making the mistake of taking Frank Shamrock and his BloodBrothersPPV.com site at face value. That’s not a dig at Shamrock, in fact, I am complementing him. Frank is a fighter with a good mind for business. As good as he is as a fighter, he might be a better promoter. A few blogs saw the initial date on the Blood Brothers site and made the mistake of running with... [Read More...]
